“I’m hoping to share my ‘park scapes’ with other people like me who appreciate the beauty of the Ludington State Park and are grateful to be able to enjoy it year ’round,” Marfia said.

From dramatic Lake Michigan sunsets to quiet river scenes to stately white pines, the exhibition reflects the natural bounty found in what Marfia considers the “queen” of the Michigan state parks. She stated her inspiration comes from countless walks along the state park’s trails and paths.

An award-winning pastel artist, Marfia is known for painting landscapes, people and skeletons.

“Through vibrant color and expressive mark making, (she hopes) to connect with people who love Ludington State Park and spark conversations about this natural resource,” reads a statement in the announcement.

Marfia earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. Her work has been widely exhibited in galleries and shops throughout the region as well as appearing in numerous juried national shows.

This is the artist’s first show at the picture-framing gallery. To view more of her work, visit www.mariemarfia.com and follow MarieMarfiaArt on Facebook and Instagram.
