We want to give a shout-out to  the Manistee Conservation District office, and especially to forester and wildlife biologist Josh Shields, for writing and sharing stories in our pages this year about browning evergreens and tree bark, and participating in stories about oak wilt and ATREP (Assisted Tree Range Expansion Project). The conservation district’s educational outreach–including site visits, programs and events–are invaluable to property owners and recreational visitors. Consider helping them as well.
