LUDINGTON – This fall, Mason County Campground is offering two buy-one-night, get-one-night-free camping weekends to encourage area residents to get to know the campground and nearby Mason County Picnic Area.
The first opportunity is Sept.15 and 16 and the second is Oct. 6 and 7.
The campground is located at 5906 W. Chauvez Road. Consumers Energy-operated access to overlooks of Lake Michigan and the Pumped Storage pond are adjacent to the the south end of the property.
“We hope people in Mason County will come camp and see what a nice campground the county has,” manager Deb Roberts said.
Mature trees surround 56 campsites, four with camping cabins. All have easy access to a centrally located, wheelchair-accessible bathhouse with shower and restrooms. All campsites have electricity and water and more than half provide full services. Wi-Fi service is available.
A nature pathway leads to a playground and picnic area and the entrance to three Mason County Disc Golf Organization courses.
Campers may also try the the campground’s own family-friendly Tinderbox disc golf course, created in 2021, which winds through the woods in the hills. Discs may be borrowed from the campground office.
“We at the campground call it the best-kept secret in Mason County,” Roberts said. “So come out and visit us.”
