Edited from a LCHS announcement
BALDWIN – The Lake County Historical Society invites members of the public to help celebrate the completion of its new historical research center and museum workroom on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the grounds of the museum at 915 N. Michigan Avenue.
“It is with all of your financial support that we have been able to accomplish this goal,” read a statement in the society’s event announcement. “We will now be able to better serve our community with a more efficient research space and a support area to enable us to create even better exhibits and programs.”
During the celebration, historical society members will offer behind-the-scenes tours of the museum, including the new first-floor addition and a new logging exhibit. At 6 p.m., a historical society member will offer remarks. Refreshments will be served.
Rockford Construction completed the museum’s addition “on time and on budget,” according to the announcement. Others thanked in an invitation to the event were A. Swift, Ace Hardware, Baldwin Lumber, Ringler Plumbing, an anonymous donor who supplied electrical materials, and Wetherell.
Thanks were also extended to the individual donors and private foundations, the Lake County Community Foundation and Great Lakes Energy for their grants, and the Lake-Osceola State Bank for “continuing support.”
Founded in 1957 as a nonprofit, the Lake County Historical Society operates historical sites in Lake County and offers outreach to the community through events and exhibits as well as educational programming and resources for teachers and students.
