From staff reports

A public reception will be held 5-7 p.m., Sat., May 6, at Oliver Art Center in Frankfort for artist Theresa Youngman of Traverse City. Youngman’s “Floral Explosion” exhibit offers colorful depictions of flowers, gardens, landscapes, and rivers on display now through May 19 in the North Hall and Fisher Room of OAC.

“This show is a feast for the eyes, after the long grey winter we had this year,” Julie Pierce, OAC’s gallery and program director, said.  “Theresa’s joyful approach to subject and color immediately lifts the spirit and puts a smile on your face.”

Her love of color brings vibrancy to her freestyle form of painting, represented in her “Floral Explosion” exhibit. She has worked in watercolor, pastel and acrylic.

“Working as an artist is an endeavor that allows time to stand still,” Youngman said in her artist’s statement. “All focus is on the moment, the subject. It is truly joyful.”

OAC Executive Director Tamara Hoffbauer commented: “We are so pleased to be showing Theresa’s work at the Oliver and to show the impact a single artist can have. We have an incredible diversity of talented artists in the northern Michigan region, and we try to provide as many opportunities for the public to enjoy their art as possible.”
